About Team :
The Access Intel Platform team drives the development of a centralized, authoritative system for evaluating authorization policies, eliminating fragmented solutions. This role supports building frameworks for both coarse- and fine-grained access control using open standards like OPA. As part of a global initiative spanning the US and India, the team focuses on delivering a consistent HRMS experience across countries. This multi-year, high-impact effort aligns with enterprise strategy and requires collaborative leadership to advance technical implementation and innovation, enhancing the overall associate experience worldwide.
As an (IND) Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving innovation in distributed systems and AI/ML integration. You will oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps and technical excellence. This role requires providing technical leadership, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating across functions to solve complex problems. You will champion best practices in architecture, cloud-native design, and continuous improvement, contributing to Walmart’s technology vision while delivering high-impact solutions that serve millions of customers and associates.
What you will do
Lead platform engineering efforts to deliver scalable infrastructure, reusable tooling, and advanced ML frameworks aligned with strategic .
Drive full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing capabilities.
Architect and implement AI-enhanced applications integrating multi-step reasoning and tool-augmented tasks using modern programming languages.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship, influencing architectural decisions and promoting engineering excellence and innovation.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements and measurable success metrics.
Ensure technical ownership by maintaining quality standards, resolving issues, and driving projects to completion
Foster continuous improvement through experimentation, knowledge sharing.
What you'll bring:
Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, delivering scalable infrastructure and reusable tooling aligned with strategic roadmaps.
Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture and distributed system design ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
Strong technical execution skills managing full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, testing, and incident response.
Proficiency in AI/ML integration and building intelligent software systems using languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
Demonstrated ability to provide technical mentorship and influence architectural decisions across teams.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders.
