Role Summary/Purpose:
The Vice President, India Talent and Engagement has the lead role in planning and execution of the India Talent and Engagement Strategy in achieving excellent service deliveries and creating value to the HR organization
by providing support to the specific focus on performance management, talent development, work from home engagement and Great Place to Work objectives, in partnership with the global Synchrony Talent Strategy and Talent Management leaders and reporting to SVP, Talent Strategy, Asia.
Essential Responsibilities:
Manage key programs and relationship of GPTW including supporting the global team with India submission of results, determining additional survey participation and enabling the India leaders to distill and assess the results for employee listening sessions
Maintain a strong partnership between Synchrony and the GPTW India team.
Partner and advice REH Leaders/ India leadership team/managers using survey results, GPTW research and point of view and deliver practical recommendations that consider the business climate and context
Oversee, review and analyze reports for trends, challenges, and areas for improvement and determine additional action planning support.
Assist to create, build and amplify education, celebration initiatives on GPTW with employees include new employees, new managers and non- exempt staff.
Partner consistently with the India HR team to respond to employee feedback, embedding engagement and positive culture throughout all pillars of our organization
Conduct trainings and roundtables on employee sentiment and related engagement topics at various India locations
Partner with Communications & EVP teams to amplify employer brand and culture messaging internally & externally
Support external campaigns and messaging including 100 Best Companies to work for, etc. in partnership with Brand, External Media, and Communications teams
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the employee experience and partner with the broader Talent/Employee Experience team to develop and implement innovative solutions and policies
Talent Management for India
Lead initiatives for talent calibration & identification by partnering with leadership and managers to spot high-potential employees and emerging leaders within the India hub
Facilitate career planning and succession planning processes by collaborating closely with employees and managers to develop personalized career paths and development plans.
Use talent analytics and insights to track workforce capabilities, skill gaps, and progression trends; generate reports to inform leadership decision-making.
Partner with Learning & Development teams to identify and recommend targeted development programs addressing identified talent and skills gaps.
Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement linked to talent growth, motivation, and retention.
Support and plan nominations for global and regional leadership development programs supporting high-potential talent pipelines.
Coordinate with global COE and HR teams to ensure alignment of talent management programs with corporate standards and local market practices.
Employee engagement within the Flexibility model at Synchrony.
Organize and lead employee recognition programs e.g. CEO awards, long service awards, facilitate/ support functional recognition and team-building activities,
Coordinate with global and regional HR teams to implement global initiatives in India, implement best practices and compliance standards.
Create flexible engagement models and increase in person manager- employee interactions within our Workplace flexibility policy in India both in Central and regional engagement hubs.
Partner with REH leaders and India Chief of Staff to map the Engagement calendar for the year including events like Synergy, Family Day.
Performance and Accountability
Support the performance management cycle, ensuring timely, fair, and outcome-driven evaluations that align with business goals.
Provide training and guidance to managers on delivering effective performance feedback, in line with Performance and accountability standards
Act as a trusted advisor on talent and performance matters to the business, fostering a culture of continuous feedback and development
Employee engagement within the Flexibility model at Synchrony.
Organize and lead employee recognition programs e.g. CEO awards, long service awards, facilitate/ support functional recognition and team-building activities,
Coordinate with global and regional HR teams to implement global initiatives in India implement best practices and compliance standards.

Thought leadership & External interface
Benchmark with competitor organizations on best in line practices in Talent management and performance management
Implement differentiated talent management practices and enable better retention of top talent
Special projects
India Reporting to business of Overall HR Metrics and outcomes.
Be a part of strategic projects ongoing in India e.g. Operating model, Implementing a matrix organization.
HR for HR initiatives and leading cross functional projects on employee experience and talent management
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
12+ years of experience in talent assessment & development, employee engagement, or related HR roles, preferably within a HR COE environment.
Strong knowledge of the Indian talent market, labour laws, and talent identification, competency assessment tools, and career planning frameworks. Knowledge of psychometric assessments is a plus..
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Proficient in HRIS systems, Performance management systems, Coaching and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with data analytics and virtual interaction project planning tools is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desired Characteristics:
Demonstrated track record in implement talent development, performance management and employee engagement initiatives in GCC space in the India talent landscape
Ability to influence across a large, matrixed organization preferably with exposure to American corporates.
Proven ability to work with and influence all levels of management
Experienced strategic communicator with strong presentation skills, created Executive level briefings
Ability to work independently with little direction and having lead teams , but also leading projects independently.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and to meet deadlines
Attentive to details
Ability to build clear/impactful storyboards and narratives to enhance communication of desired messages
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
12+ years of experience in talent assessment & development, employee engagement, or related HR roles, preferably within a HR COE environment.
Work Timings
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs) We are proud to offer flexibility at Synchrony.
Our way of working allows you the option to work from home or workspaces in our Regional Engagement Hubs — Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Occasionally you may be required to commute or travel to Hyderabad or one of the Regional Engagement Hubs for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, trainings, and culture events.
