Part of CCIB’s Digital Channels, Data Analytics & Coverage Platforms (DDCP), we are building a complete end-to-end, digital-first client journey from onboarding, transacting to servicing and reporting. We are passionate about developing and delivering Best in Class digital client experience through consistent, well designed, contextual user journeys across all our client touchpoints such as the API Banking channel.
As an Associate Product Owner in the API Banking team, you will play a key role in driving APIs across Transaction Banking (Cash Management, Reporting, Value Added Services) and / OR Trade & Securities Services focusing primarily on Security Services and Trade Services, you'll play a pivotal role in enabling CIB clients to manage their Investments, Letter of Credits, Bank Guarantees and other Security- and Trade-related products seamlessly through APIs.
You'll ensure your APIs portfolio meets rapid client growth demands, new market opportunities, and maintains compliance with evolving regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Depending on your experience, you will:Drive APIs supporting Account Services, Liquidity, and Reporting (including ISO 20022 camt statements, real time notifications, reconciliation solutions, value added services)And / or build APIs for Trade Finance and Securities Services (e.g., Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, custody/investments). This role offers exposure as a key contributor to our global API strategy, working at the intersection of technology, compliance, and client needs. You'll collaborate closely with technology partners, group and regional business stakeholders to deliver API solutions that are fast, reliable, and future proof. Reporting to a Lead Product Owner, you will act as a key contact for our global team on Account Services and Reporting APIs / or Securities and Trade API Solutions in the markets with product expertise, guiding client solutions based on market capabilities. This role requires strong agile software delivery management skills, meticulous documentation capabilities, and the ability to design and deliver client-facing API in global scale and with local relevance across over 35 markets.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Own and drive API roadmap across Cash Management (Account Services, Reporting, Liquidity) / or Trade & Securities Services APIs ensuring successful rollout of new features, enhancements, and system upgrades
- Partner with technology teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into robust, scalable API solutions
- Manage end-to-end product delivery cycles using agile methodologies, from discovery through to production deployment
- Ensure timely and effective delivery of API enhancements that meet client demands while maintaining highest system performance and reliability
- Work with Transaction Banking business and product development team to prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, market demand, and strategic fit
- Maintain organized requirement backlogs with clear traceability from business need to delivered solution
- Assess the impact of core banking and payment platform modernization initiatives on API capabilities
- Coordinate with technology, Partner Enablement and regional stakeholders to ensure seamless migration paths and client communications during system transitions
Market Adaptation & Compliance
- Adapt global API standards to meet market-specific regulatory requirements and rules across diverse jurisdictions
- Stay current with evolving regulatory frameworks and ensure API solutions remain compliant
- Coordinate with compliance, legal, and risk teams to address market-specific constraints and requirements for API flows
- Evaluate the broader impact of regulatory changes on your API portfolio’s capabilities and client experiences across multiple markets
- Analyse complex multi-market requirements for receivables management and identify commonalities that enable scalable API solutions
Product Documentation & Content
- Create comprehensive end-to-end design and mapping specifications for Cash Management / Trade API implementations across different markets
- Write detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria that guide development and testing teams
- Develop and maintain client-facing documentation including API reference guides, integration manuals, webhook specifications, test case examples, and exception handling
- Ensure all documentation meets global standards while addressing market-specific nuances and end-to-end capabilities
- Maintain up-to-date API specifications using tools like Open API, in Open Banking Marketplace
Stakeholder Management & Client Support
- Be the subject matter expert regarding API capabilities, market nuances, address client query and validate client solutions during commercialisations
- Support client-facing teams with technical expertise during client onboarding and integration processes
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for internal stakeholders on API features, client solutions and use cases
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyse API performance metrics across markets including uptime, latency, error rates, success rates, and adoption trends to identify opportunities for API optimization
- Track delivery timelines, sprint velocity, and release quality to ensure consistent and efficient execution
- Identify patterns in client usage, reconciliation issues, and system performance data to drive proactive improvements
- Contribute to PTR/UVT, post-implementation reviews and client feedback to enhance future delivery
Agile Delivery Management
- Lead agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives for assigned initiatives
- Maintain clear visibility into development progress, blockers, and dependencies
- Collaborate with engineering teams to break down complex features into manageable increments
- Ensure continuous delivery of value through iterative releases and rapid feedback cycle
Governance
- Ensure product compliance on Group standard for Audit, Risk, Compliance and local regulatory schemes.
- Maintain the product program as per product governance guideline.
- Act as a liaison with the risk and compliance committees.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

- Exposure to enterprise payment processing systems, core banking platforms, or treasury management systems

- 3+ years in transaction banking or digital experience in financial or other transaction-oriented industry.
- Previous project, product management and/or implementation experience in Digital Channels and /or Cash Management experience with understanding of Swift/ICC or ISO20022 capabilities, or Financial Markets
- Ability to understand the importance of relationship building both with internal and external customers.
- Effective and positive written and verbal communications especially when acting as a liaison between departments, internal employees/subordinates and clients.
- Ability to create and deliver effective oral and written presentations/proposals up to a senior level of management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, finance, or related field
- Proven track record of successfully delivering software products or features in an agile environment
- 1-5 years of experience in product management, digital product delivery, or business analysis within financial services or fintech
- Preferably strong understanding of Documentary and Open Account Trade flows
- Knowledge of API technologies, RESTful architectures, webhook implementations, developer portals, cloud platforms, and microservices architecture
- Experience with API documentation tools (Swagger/Open API, Postman)
- Comfortable reading and understanding technical architecture documents and system integration designs
- Familiarity with Trade technical standards such as Swift ICC Bank Guarantees and Letter of Credit Or ISO 20022 CGI / CBPR+ Standard
- Experience working across multiple markets or jurisdictions, understanding how to balance global standards with local requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities, able to build relationships across product, technology, compliance, and regional teams
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed global organization across different time zones and cultures
