As the Procurement leader for India, you'll establish and scale Nationwide’s India Procurement Center of Excellence, driving global sourcing strategies, operational excellence, and measurable business value. This role partners closely with U.S. leadership to deliver cost optimization, risk management, and enhanced stakeholder experience. Scope includes procurement operations, sourcing delivery, buy desk, market intelligence, and supplier relationship management.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the vision for Procurement operations and in India and supports the overall Enterprise Procurement strategy.
- Leads the development of an India-based procurement operations capability aligned to enterprise standards, controls, KPIs, and client needs to meet cost, quality, risk, speed and service objectives.
- Drives sourcing strategies, negotiations, and cost optimization across categories.
- Oversee RFX design/execution, negotiations, cost modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements; ensure commercial outcomes, risk protections, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Partners with U.S. leaders to align priorities, communications, processes, delivers measurable savings and consistent quality.
- Responsible for implementing standardized processes, SLAs, playbooks, and controls; ensure audit readiness.
- Establish and integrate a scalable, policy-compliant Buy Desk with intake, P2P workflows, and catalog strategies to maximize self service and automation. Monitors P2P performance and resolve escalations promptly.
- Champion digital enablement and automation across Ariba, Fieldglass, and connected tools; improve data quality, streamline intake/assignment, and leverage AI assisted quality checks, clause comparison, and workflow optimization where appropriate.
- Leads the implementation of tiered SRM governance; oversee QRBs and performance scorecards.
- Proactively manage supplier risk and continuity.
- Champions innovation and automation and AI-assisted tools for efficiency and compliance.
- Creates and maintain dashboards and data quality for decision-making.
Provide leadership to team, including career development, performance management, and compensation decisions.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or Finance from a recognized institution.
Experience:
Ten or more years in in procurement/supply management across sourcing and operations, including 5 or more years progressive managerial experience; proven track record building and scaling teams in India.
Demonstrated success standing up new functions (e.g., buy desk, shared services, research/analytics) and maturing them to stable, measurable performance.
Experience leading SRM programs, supplier governance, and executive level relationships.
Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in procurement policies, category strategies, negotiation, and contracting; fluency in interpreting complex agreements and evaluating outsourcing strategies and risk.
- Strong project/program leadership and change management; ability to translate business needs into standardized processes, SLAs, and measurable outcomes.
- Advanced proficiency with technology platforms (e.g., Ariba, Fieldglass) and data/analytics for decision support and reporting; comfort leveraging automation and AI assisted tools.

- Ability to work and operate in a global, agile, matrixed environment and drive consensus.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to Nationwide India Office, Managing Director, with Matrix to Chief Procurement Officer, leads a team of approximately five direct reports.
Working Hours:
Aligned to India business hours with flexibility for global collaboration.
Location Flexibility:
[Hybrid/Remote/In-office] with periodic in-office collaboration.
