The Nationwide Property and Casualty, Sales Technology Solutions team is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer to lead a team of developers offshore and drive strategic data initiatives.

This resource will support Sales Data Mart and Sales IQ applications.

This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work across functions to align business needs with scalable solutions.

Candidates should have strong communication skills and work well within a team environment.

Applicant must have strong analytical skills, the ability to troubleshoot, ability to prioritize tasks as well as multitask, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders will be key.

Technology stack includes Databricks, Teradata, Informatica, DIF (PERL), UAC (Scheduling), Legacy/Mainframe, Unix, GitHub Actions, Harness, UCD (code deployment), Tosca, Oracle & SQL server.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Informatica, Teradata, SQL, Perl, and Databricks.
  • Lead development efforts and mentor junior team members.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and deliver effective data solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support application run operations and perform data analysis.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance and scalability.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across systems.
  • Document technical designs, processes, and standards.
  • Experience with Universal Automation Center (UAC).

Qualifications:

  • Over 6 years of hands-on experience with Informatica and strong proficiency in Teradata, SQL and Perl.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and tools (Databricks preferred).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven track record in leading projects and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

  • Analyses, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience:
Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
