Role Summary:
We are seeking a highly competent and results-driven Software Engineer to join our Technology Services organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous delivery of enterprise applications across Mainframe (z/OS) and distributed platforms.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Mainframe technologies (non-negotiable requirement) combined with working knowledge of modern DevOps tools and practices (preferred). This position demands a proactive professional capable of operating in a mission-critical production environment, with a strong focus on operational excellence, system reliability, and process automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide end-to-end support for Mainframe-based applications, ensuring high availability and performance
- Manage and support batch processing cycles, job scheduling, and production workloads
- Execute build, release, and deployment activities across multiple environments
- Perform incident management, root cause analysis, and issue resolution in a timely manner
- Monitor system health using observability tools and proactively identify performance bottlenecks
- Handle system configuration, patching, and infrastructure upgrades
- Support security and compliance processes, including identity and certificate management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless production support and service delivery
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and SOPs
- Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
Mandatory Technical Skills (Mainframe Expertise – Core Requirement)
Strong hands-on experience with:
- COBOL, JCL
- DB2, IMS, VSAM
- CICS & Mainframe SQL
Proven expertise in:
- Batch processing and job scheduling frameworks
- z/OS environment support and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to support production systems in a high-availability environment
Preferred Skills (DevOps & Modern Technology Exposure):
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools (Splunk, New Relic)
- Knowledge of integration and data platforms (Guidewire, App Connect, Informatica, ETL tools such as Talend)
- Cloud platform exposure, preferably AWS
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments
- Experience in automation and scripting (Shell, Python, Power Apps)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment
Work Model:
- Fully Remote (restricted to Hyderabad-based candidates)
- Required to operate in a night shift aligned with U.S. EST business hours

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Executes work in adherence with IT Service Management best practices.
- Identifies, designs and assists in implementing opportunities to standardize operational environments.
- Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Designs and develops standard, repeatable production runs; creates all appropriate job control language; schedules scripts and standard documentation; and partners with other support organizations to set up and execute.
- Executes process improvements through optimization, enhancements and implementation of new operational features and functions.
- Provides consultation and support to delivery teams in their release activities.
- Engages in critical situations.
- Ensures currency of data in configuration management tools.
- Maintains adherence to contract license usage.
- Provides data-driven decisions by delivering operational metrics and by analyzing operational data to identify trends and potential problems.
- Analyzes, designs and reports operational data and makes continuous improvement recommendations.
- Delivers operational overview documentation and metrics with insights and analysis.
- Maintains operational knowledge of platforms, technologies and applications.
- Coordinates with others to allow for immediate response to service disruptions. Communicates root-cause analysis and critical situation findings to Technology leaders.
- Drives research of end user issues with technology solutions.
- Provides oversight to ensure planning and coordination of enterprise release activities occurs.
- Executes Level 2 and 3 technical support for hardware and software application configuration, incident management processes, monitoring, and knowledge management.
- Coordinates with Level 3 support to assist in mitigating incidents and validation of change activities involving hardware and software.
- Serves as technical and process escalation for team members.
- Provides on-site support during Business Continuity and Catastrophic (CAT) related events, including infrastructure support from cabling and facilities coordination to network installation, telecommunications and network support.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Four years or more of technology experience developing and implementing routine solutions. One or more years of experience using basic levels of troubleshooting to fix a problem. Knowledge of planning, management and execution of the Accelerated Solutions Delivery framework, Information Security acumen.
