Job Description Summary
Nationwide Technology is seeking a Solution Architect, Emerging Technology to drive hands‑on exploration, research, and prototyping across Agentic AI, Machine Learning / Deep Learning, Quantum, Physical AI, and cyber‑physical systems. This is a highly hands‑on individual contributor role focused on R&D, rapid experimentation, and de‑risking emerging technologies so they can be scaled into secure, reliable solutions for our customers and associates. You will spend most of your time designing and running experiments, building prototypes, and providing deep technical guidance, while working closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate findings into actionable next steps on modern cloud platforms.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Lead exploration and research – identify promising emerging technologies and use cases, frame hypotheses, design experiments, and synthesize findings into clear recommendations.
Build prototypes and proofs‑of‑concept – design and implement high‑quality prototypes for Agentic AI, ML/DL, Quantum, and Physical AI use cases, demonstrating feasibility, value, and risks.
Own end‑to‑end experimentation – define success criteria and metrics, run experiments, analyze results, and iterate quickly to converge on viable solution patterns.
Provide deep technical leadership (without direct reports) – influence architecture and design for LLM/agentic systems and emerging‑tech solutions, review designs and code for quality, security, and scalability.
Embed modern engineering and DevSecOps practices – use Git‑based workflows, CI/CD, automated testing, security scanning, and observability even for prototypes, enabling smooth paths to production.
Champion AI safety and compliance – incorporate secure coding, data protection, responsible‑AI practices, and regulatory expectations into experiments and recommendations.
Partner across the ecosystem – collaborate with product, architecture, security, data, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to align priorities, share insights, and inform roadmaps.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to the Director, Head of Emerging Tech – Nationwide, India.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities.
The role may provide mentoring and technical guidance to engineers, interns, or vendor teams involved in emerging‑technology initiatives.
Experience & Skills:
Experience & Influence:
8+ years of hands‑on experience delivering software solutions (ideally including AI‑enabled or data‑intensive systems) using Agile and DevSecOps practices.
Demonstrated experience leading technical explorations, R&D, or innovation initiatives – from idea and hypothesis through prototype and clear recommendations.
Proven ability to influence without formal authority, working with product, architecture, security, data, and engineering teams in matrixed environments.
Comfortable operating in high ambiguity, making pragmatic trade‑offs, and communicating options, risks, and constraints clearly.
Technical Skills – Emerging Tech & Engineering:
Hands‑on background with LLM‑powered and/or agentic AI systems (e.g., RAG, tool‑using agents, orchestrated workflows), including prompt/system design and evaluation.
Knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts and experience applying them in production systems or high‑impact prototypes.
Solid experience designing and operating systems on major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) using managed services, containers, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
Strong foundation in modern software engineering (e.g., Java, Python, C#, or similar), with the ability to independently design, implement, and iterate on prototypes and services.
Practical experience with Git‑based workflows and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) including automated tests, static analysis, and security scanning.
Security and compliance expertise – secure coding (e.g., OWASP), secrets management, least‑privilege access, logging/traceability, and working in regulated environments.
Nice to Have:
Knowledge of Quantum, Robotics, Physical AI, and cyber‑physical systems (e.g., IoT/edge, intelligent devices, simulation/digital twins).
Exposure to quantum development frameworks or services (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, Azure Quantum, Amazon Braket).
Experience integrating models and software with physical devices or simulators, including telemetry and feedback loops.
Prior experience in an R&D, innovation lab, startup, or academic collaboration environment, especially where exploratory work transitions into production platforms, is preferred.
Mindset & Ways of Working:
Strong maker mindset – enjoys building, testing, and iterating on ideas quickly, with a bias toward working code and data over slideware.
Curious, experimental, and evidence‑driven – comfortable framing hypotheses, running disciplined experiments and learning quickly from successes and failures.
Committed to engineering excellence, automation, and continuous improvement, even in exploratory work.
Balances strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, proactively unblocking technical challenges and sharing knowledge with others.
Communicates complex technical concepts in a clear, structured way to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Values:
Consistently demonstrates Nationwide Values through leadership, accountability, and decision‑making, including:
Putting customers and partners at the center of how emerging technologies are explored and applied.
Acting with integrity, respect, and responsibility, especially with powerful technologies like AI and Quantum.
Championing inclusion and diversity, ensuring solutions are fair, transparent, and responsible.
