This role is ideal for a curious, hands-on software engineer who enjoys exploring new technologies, building prototypes, and translating innovative ideas into practical business solutions. While this position has a strong emphasis on quantum computing and advanced computing concepts, it also offers the opportunity to work across AI, machine learning, agentic systems, cryptography, and other emerging technologies.
In this role, you will:
Research and evaluate emerging technologies, with a primary focus on quantum computing and quantum inspired solutions.
Design, develop, and test proof of concepts and prototypes to assess technical feasibility and business value.
Partner with architecture, engineering, product, security, and business teams to identify opportunities where emerging technologies can solve real business challenges.
Conduct experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings through clear technical recommendations and reusable documentation.
Apply sound software engineering practices, security principles, and engineering standards throughout the prototyping process.
Stay informed on emerging technology trends and help shape future innovation opportunities across Nationwide Technology.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands on experience with quantum computing, quantum inspired algorithms, advanced computing, or related research and development.
Experience with technologies such as Qiskit, Cirq, Azure Quantum, Amazon Braket, or comparable quantum development platforms.
Experience developing software in Python, with exposure to AI and machine learning frameworks preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, exploratory environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Analyses, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
Additional responsibilities may include collaboration across teams and adherence to company standards.

Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience:
Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
